The New York State Nurses Associations’s Statewide Peer Assistance for Nurses (SPAN) is a confidential education, support, and advocacy program for all nurses licensed in New York State, anywhere on the continuum from substance use to substance dependence.

SPAN’s mission is to be the resource for all New York State nurses affected by substance use disorders, while fostering public safety through outreach and education.

The potential for substance abuse deeply worries Deborah Koivula, a representative from the New York State Nurses Association and she wants to remind all nurses about the Statewide Peer Assistance For Nurses (SPAN) program.

Learn about the warning signs nurses need to be alert to, by watching News Channel 13’s video of Benita Zahn with Deborah Koivula.
