The Red Cross is implementing the Health Professionals Direct Deployment Process for volunteers to support Disaster Health Services (DHS) and Disaster Mental Health Services (DMH). Health and mental health professionals assess and help meet the needs of individuals and families affected by the hurricanes.
Through the Direct Deployment Process, professionals who are eligible to support Disaster Health or Mental Health Disaster Services (but who are not currently Red Cross volunteers) can apply to deploy as Red Cross volunteers for the current response. The Red Cross will cover costs for their transportation, housing, food, and incidentals while they are deployed. On-boarding and training will be provided before volunteers travel.
